Labor Day Parade 2010

One of my favorite things we do here is called the "Last Fling" in downtown Naperville. I love it but also dread it in a way. It's called the Last Fling because it basically marks the end of sunshine and the beginning of a looooong winter. There is always a big parade on Labor Day. The kids love it because there are a lot of giveaways (mostly candy). Talan was really tiny last year so he wasn't into it but this year he was old enough to know what was going on. We started the morning with donuts. He at at least 8 donut holes and then screamed when I cut him off. He started out very curious as they were coming down the street: wasn't a fan of the sirens or other loud noises so he spent the first few minutes in my lap but his sister helped get him into the parade spirit: And then he realized that they were giving out candy. They had him at "tootsie roll": After donuts, lollipops, and the rest of the sugar he ate all morning, he really needed the popsicle that they handed out at the end: Mother of the Year folks! And don't you forget it.
