Born Today, Six Tomorrow

6 years ago today, we met Reese for the first time. I’ll never forget that moment. She was an adorable little baby and has grown into a sweet and spunky young lady. I am so grateful for her and while I hate that time flies by so quickly, I do look forward to what each year brings. She grows and changes almost daily. Reese, my darling daughter, I just know that you're going to do something big with your life. Between your angelic voice, your bigger than life personality, and those mad dance skills, you'll continue to wow us all. I love you my sweet baby girl!!!!
Happy 6th birthday!

P'jammin Party!

I'm happy to report that the party was a success! The girls had a blast and I'm still alive at the end of it all. Yesterday wasn't her real birthday but we decided that we were going to pretend like it was being that we will be out of town for the real thing....and we were celebrating it with all of her friends anyway. So the night before, I made sure she had something fun to wake up to: She was so excited to come down the stairs the next morning!
We were dressed and out of the house by 8am. First stop was breakfast at the Pancake Cafe.
We had a delicious breakfast! Afterwards Nana & Papa took Reese to do a little birthday shopping so that we could head back to the house. I had a lot of decorating to do. The color scheme, as you'll notice, was pink, green & purple:
Reese was so excited to see it all put together. This is a shot of the main table, set to look like a bed:
We also decorated the basement with lights and tons of balloons:
The gift bags:
When Reese got home from, we played beauty shop. She loves to have her hair washed in the kitchen sink and requested that I blow it dry straight. I'm a huge fan of her curls but it's her (almost) birthday so it was her choice:
After her hair she got dressed in her new nightgown and it was time to wait for the guests to arrive!
I love this shot. Notice the snow....yes, it snowed. All day. First day of Spring? Could have fooled me.
Finally the girls began to pile in. First stop? Nails!!!
Next up? Tattoos:
Two of the sweetest 5th grade girls you'll ever met, Katie & Emily, came over to help me with the party. They taught the girls a super cute dance to a Miley Cyrus song:
After the dancing it was time to lay out the sleeping bags, put in a sleepover movie, and have some pizza:
When they finished eating we played a fun life-sized board game:
It was getting close to end time so we headed back upstairs for the ice cream sundae bar:
I think they all had a great time.
I had fun, too, but I am SO glad that this was not the real deal. I got chewed up and spit out by 14 girls and was completely exhausted at the end of it all. I had the help of Kevin, my parents, and Emily & Katie and it was still a challenge to keep up with it all. I didn't get a group shot of them and also didn't get one of Reese blowing out her candles. Huge bummer.
The party was only two hours long so we saved the presents for afterwards.
I hope she had as much fun as I did. Happy (almost) birthday my sweet baby girl!

Believe It Or Not

I just finished decorating and setting up the cutest birthday party starting with this: In just over an hour my house will be swarming with 16 screaming 5-7 year old girls. Lord help me! Everything is ready to go AND I still had time for a quick blog. Woot!!! Pictures tomorrow :)

ShamROCKED

While we were sleeping last night our house was invaded....by a naughty Leprehchaun! We went in to check on Reese before turning in for the night and this is what we found: Reese came in extra early this morning (ugh!) to tell us all about what she found when she woke up: We couldn't believe it! After reading the note we were anxious to see what else he was going to do. Sure enough, we poured the milk and it was green!: He even got ahold of Talan's sippy cup!: The breakfast request was pancakes. Can you believe that he turned those green, too?: And the eggs? Green.: We thought we had seen it all....but no. Look what we found in the bathroom!: I'm sure Reese thinks she is safe while she's at school but little does she know, that naughty Leprechaun got to her lunch. She's going to be so surprised when she finds this: Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!!

Perfect Party Practice

Reese's birthday is next weekend. She wanted to do a sleepover but I'm nowhere near brave enough to have a bunch of 6 year old girls spend the night so instead we're going to do a "mock sleepover". I've had so much fun planning it with her. We sent out invitations to 14 girls (plus two 5th graders who are coming to help me out) last week and so far all but two have called to say that they are coming. I can't even begin to imagine how loud our house will be with that many 6(ish) year old girls running around. I found some super cute invites online and decided to use the idea to make my own for her. I love the way they turned out: (Had to remove the address & phone number on account of random blog stalkarazzi) I also found some adorable cupcakes online so this weekend Reese and I did a trial round with them: For the real thing I'm going to add little teddy graham crackers to each one. I'm also going to try to keep them in the party color scheme: hot pink, lime green, and purple. Although I spent most of the weekend running party errands I still have a long way to go before Saturday. I'm really excited for Reese. Birthdays are a big deal in our family so I want to make sure it's a party that she'll always remember.

Surprise Visitor

Heather called this morning to see if Julia could spend some time with us this afternoon while she went to a meeting. We were happy to have such a sweet little visitor! The two of them were much easier than their three older siblings! There was no drama, no fighting, and no sassy talk. The two of them played together so well and entertained each other, making my job a piece of cake. I just sat back and took it all in, admiring our darling little babies. Talan is all about standing on his own today. This video from this morning shows him standing for several seconds before he falls. He's worked his way up to at least a minute and even stood and clapped for a while today. Maybe I should be more nervous about the whole walking deal but in my opinion once they are mobile it doesn't make a difference whether it's walking or crawling. They can still get into everything at that point. I'm not looking forward to the accidents in the beginning (I'm sure he'll fall a ton and the hardwoods are not very forgiving) but I look forward to being able to put him down in a public place rather than worrying about his hands being all over the ground as he crawls. Who knows? Maybe I'll eat my words later but for now I'm kind of excited about it!
