It's like
sunshiiiiiiiiine.....and rain.
This summer is going to be short lived but it's already feeling a little long. There is plenty to do when you live 45 minutes from a very big city but unfortunately it's all going to cost you. In order to save money we've been trying to stick around the house as much as possible. This week we've had
sporadic rainstorms roll in. At least the rain feels like a bit more of an excuse to stay indoors (and save some
moolah!).
Thursday morning we woke up to a picture perfect day. We caved and headed out to a local pool. The pools around here all charge an outrageous fee to get in (because people are more than willing to pay it for the 3 months out of the year that it's nice enough to lay by a pool). We were more than happy to count ourselves amongst the suckers who forked out $7/ea. to enjoy it for a day (it's normally $14 but because they are in the midst of repairing a couple of slides it's half off).
Reese &
Talan were both in Heaven. Not only were we out of the house....but we were at a pool. The fact that Kevin was able to take a couple of hours off to join us was a major bonus!

The only pitfall? Everyone on Earth had the same idea. They were at capacity and had to stop letting people in at one point. It was PACKED.

Yesterday we dealt with another round of storms but it cleared up again today. It was gorgeous out! When
Talan woke up from his morning nap we packed up and headed out to take advantage of the paddle boats in downtown
Naperville. Reese has been begging us to take her out on these boats since we moved here.
After suiting up in our life vests we were off to enjoy the lake.

It's not often that we can keep
Talan occupied but the boat seemed to do the trick.

It was a perfect opportunity for a self family portrait. This little monkey couldn't keep a straight face in the first one.

No idea where she gets is. Really! Here's our second shot:

After boating we grabbed some ice cream. Again with the faces!

We came back into town and were invited by some friends to join them at a "members-only" pool so we ended the day there. We had an awesome day and perfect kick off to Father's Day weekend.
