Kevin and I woke up bright and early on Christmas morning, excited to get the day started. We waited as long as we could for the kids to wake up but there wasn't a peep. We snuck downstairs to take a look at the loot:
Reese wrote a letter to Santa but it was written in pencil and the photo didn't turn out. Here's what it said:
Dear Santa,
Please be careful outside it’s groose wet and it could rain or snow. I thought you would be hungry so I thought you wanted cookies and a corot for your raindeers. You must be cold with wet so I got your warm milk. I’m very happy you came. Thank you, from Reese. (Could you please right back!)
Santa did write back!
We waited until 6:45 and then couldn't stand it any longer so we went into Reese's room and woke her up.
Reese had about 15 minutes to herself before we went in and got little man.
And then we tore into the gifts:
There were clear favorites amongst the pile of gifts this year. For Reese it was her American Girl doll and for Talan it was his Why-Writer (from the show "Super Why")
Monkey bread on Christmas morning is a tradition in our family. I made it....
And the kids ate it....
Talan ate about 1/3 of it himself. That, folks, is equivalent to about 10 biscuits (plus sugar and butter).
Later that afternoon we headed over to the Heller household for a fantastic Christmas dinner. The food was amazing (crab & corn bisque, roast, potato souffle, asparagus, bread pudding, and creme brulee) but the company was even better.
A merry Christmas indeed.
