This week has been absolute insanity. Last weekend I took a trip to Dallas to visit friends from high school. I got home Tuesday evening and it felt like I had been gone for a lot longer than 3 days. In addition to playing catch-up, we had a ton of activities on our calendar. On Thursday Kevin decided it would be best to work from home. He decided to surprise Reese at school and met her for lunch. He brought her her favorite....sushi!
She was so excited to have him there with her. That night, after voice lessons, we had the Ice Cream Social at the school. I forgot my camera so I was stuck relying on my phone for photos. I couldn't get any good pictures because the kids did not stop moving. They had a blast out on the dance floor jamming to the DJs tunes.
On Friday night I had our neighborhood Bunco. Saturday morning bright and early we were up and running around trying to prep for this years Dinner Club kick-off (we were hosting). We rushed off to the football game so that Reese could cheer. From there we rushed back home to change her so that we could get to our neighborhood block party. We only had an hour window before we again had to rush off to get home and prepped for dinner for 12. I'll post pictures in a separate post.
On Tuesday afternoon when I flew out of Dallas, I was on the plane with some of the Chicago Fire soccer team. Their reserve team had been there to play in a game and they were travelling home. On the plane, I sat next to the assistant coach. We talked for the entire 2.5 hour flight. He offered up tickets to yesterdays game (even after I admitted that I am not a fan of soccer!). I knew Kevin, who is a fan, would be thrilled. So yesterday we packed up the kids and went to the game. The weather wasn't looking good that morning but it cleared up beautifully in time for the game and we had an absolute blast! Our tickets were five rows from the field and just the the right of the players.
Along with the tickets, he had included passes to the club house for a meet-and-greet after the game. Fire won 3-2 so it was a very exciting game and we were all really excited to go back and meet some of the players. The kids really enjoyed it and the team actually made a fan out of me, too.
They got signatures from two players; Daniel Gargan (3) and Logan Pause (12) and lots of attention from all of the other players they saw. The coach I met, Leo Percovich, came up to introduce himself. He's Italian and does the kiss on each cheek thing. Reese thought it was the funniest thing and said "that coach loved me....he kissed me like a thousand times".
Talan spotted a player and pointed right at him and said "that boy has a kitty cat on his head"!
Uh, no Talan, that's not a kitty cat, it's a mohawk like yours! We had to get a picture. All in all we had a fabulous time and can't wait to get back for another game.
