Bad About Blogging

I have not done a good job with keeping up my blog as of lately.  Our home computer is a dinosaur.  Truly.  We got it before Reese was born and have loaded it with who-knows-what software and who-knows-how-many files.  I turn it on and it sounds like an airplane ready for take off.  Booting up takes at least 20 minutes, sometimes more.  Opening a browser window?  That's another 5-10 minutes.  It just took me 15 minutes to rotate a couple of photos on a memory card.  You get the picture?  Not only do I not have time to spend an hour writing a 2 paragraph blog, but it also frustrates the crap out of me.  I used to occasionally use Kevin's computer to update but 2 weeks into his new job (more on that later) he somehow got a virus on his brand new laptop.  That was the end of my using his computer.  Not that it was my fault, but we can't take that chance.  My brother thinks he has a laptop I can borrow until we can go and buy one of our own so hopefully by the end of next week I'll be back in business!

The other reason I haven't had a chance to blog is that we've been spending as much time as possible at the pool.  After a very long winter and disappointing spring we're in dire need of some sun and fun.

Talan has really taken to some of the girls who are there just about every day.

I really think he has a crush.....at 2 years old.  It's hilarious to watch him flirt.  And the girls love him back so he is in Heaven when they surround him.

Despite his new job and busy schedule, Kevin was able to check-out of work this weekend and join in on our fun.

It's hard to manage two kids even when there are two adults there.  I have a friend who is able to tell her daughter to go take a nap and she happily obliges, curling up on a lawn chair in the shade for a 2+ hour nap.  I thought it was brilliant and tried to convince Talan the same.  No such luck.  What happens is that the second I put him in the car at the end of the day he is asleep before I pull out of the parking spot.....and then won't transfer to his bed.....resulting in a very tired, very cranky kid at the end of the day.  I had an "ah ha" moment while we were at the pool on Sunday.  I left Kevin with Reese and took Talan out to the car, grabbed a stroller, and took him on a 10 minute walk in the shade.  Voila!!!

He was out like a light at which point I pushed him back to the pool and into a shady spot under a tree.  We had a whole hour of relaxation before he woke up.  I hope it wasn't a fluke because I plan to use this method on a daily basis.  It bought him a nap and me an hour where I wasn't chasing him back and forth between the pool and the chair.  Bliss.
