After a 10 minute on-shore lesson we paddled out to get started.
And in true form, Kevin stood up and surfed in on the first wave he caught.
Me? While I had determination, it took two tries before I could ride one in.
What a face!
The reef and rocks underneath us were the cause for my concern. You have to be so careful when you fall or jump off of the board. You have to either flop on your belly or gently fall straight back, keeping your arms up, otherwise you risk getting sliced up. Kevin instinctively put his hand down in the water after his first ride in and got a good sized gash. Fortunately he didn't tell me about the bleeding until after we were back on shore. Sharks anyone?
Yay! Finally up and riding! Love how enthusiastic our instructor, Will, was. Awesome.
It may have been sloppy but I figured out how to stay up and catch my balance.
Show off....
The paddling out really was exhausting but when we would catch a ride in we'd somehow muster up the energy to get back out. It was addictive!
Such a fun day. If we ever move back to the beach I would have to invest in a board. And on our next beach visit (albeit another 14 years from now) I'll look forward to giving it another try.
Stacie, I am sorry, but I can't help but to notice that you're bringing sexy back again and again, just like you did back in 2005. Gosh, you're HOT! :D
