Heating Up Halloween

We have all been so excited about Halloween.  This past weekend we were invited to a party.  We were looking so forward to it.  Well, on Friday morning we woke up and the house was freezing cold.  Come to find out, our furnace decided to die on us.  To be fair, it's the original furnace from when the house was built so it's old and it's been on it's last leg since we moved in three years ago.

We're coming into the crazy cold winter months so it's not like we could just let it go.  We found a company that could come out same day and replace it.  And hey, while they were at it, might as well have them replace the A/C unit that hasn't worked since we moved in.  These things always seem to happen just as you're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

The guys got started late and ended up being here until 10:30 on Friday night.  Therefore, one of us had to miss the fun Halloween party to be here with them during installation.  Normally I'd be the one to take the kids and Kevin would volunteer to miss out on the fun but I was so spent, emotionally & physically (and literally if we're talking about our wallet!), that I was happy to sit that one out.

Talan is insistant on a pumpkin costume but we haven't been able to find him one.  Forunately he was a little more excited about his recycled spider costume when I colored his mohawk green to match.

My parents sent the kids a Halloween cookbook.  I took a couple of ideas from it and sent some fun food with Kevin and the kids.

They had such a great time.  Here there are making a mummy out of daddy:

I have anxiety just looking at this picture.  I would have been trying frantically to pick up every last square of that toilet paper off of the floor.  Kevin said it was chaos.

So one party down and another coming up on Friday and then the big day on Monday.  Looking forward to a fun week!
