Blessed Are We

We are in Florida and having a great visit thus far. We arrived Friday evening and had enough time to have dinner with Kevin's parents and grandmother before turning in and getting ready for a big day ahead. Yesterday, Saturday, was Talan's baptism. He was baptized in the same church and by the same Deacon (Mr. Jack Trevino) as Reese was (almost 5 years ago to the day). Mr. Trevino also married us there....12 years ago this month. Needless to say, it was a very special and emotional ceremony. (top photo is Reese and bottom is Talan) Talan was really vocal the entire way through, making his grunting/happy noises. I was hoping we could get through the ceremony without any vomit but that was just a little too much to ask. Things were going well until about halfway through. In fact, at the exact moment that Mr. Trevino made the sign of the cross on his chest is when Talan decided to upchuck. Another sign of the cross on his forehead and he spewed again. I couldn't help but laugh at the timing. Maybe Mr. Trevino was exercising the reflux demon out of him. One can only hope. In addition to seeing family I got to see friends as well. Diane, Trisha, & Erica all made it to the ceremony. Erica was kind enough to stand-in for Talan's Godparents, Eric & Heather. Everytime I see "my girls" I get emotional thinking about how lucky I am to have them in my life. How many people can say that they are still close with the girls they've been friends with since as far back as Elementary school? Next weekend we have a traditional outing planned...GNO (girl's night out!). There are 25 of us reuniting and spending the day and night together. Can't wait! Kevin, Talan, & I are at the condo in PCB right now. Reese stayed with Kevin's parents in Niceville. We miss her like crazy right now but know it's important to give her this time with her grandparents. She and they were both so excited about this part of her "special vacation". They have a lot planned and we know she's having a ball. Later this week she'll come back here with us. From there she's going to Tennessee for a week to stay with my parents when we head back to Naperville. A week with each set of grandparents? She is going to be so spoiled rotten! The water is crystal clear right now and the weather is beautiful. Time to squeeze into a Mom-suit and get down to the beach! Thanks for reading.
