Willie is crazy! "I just can't wait to get on the road again". Yea, not so much Mr. Nelson. While I am super excited to be leaving for our Florida trip, I am not at all excited about how we're getting there. We're in the midst of packing the truck (the things two kids can't live without for two weeks barely fit....and we have a whale on top of the truck that is full as well!) and will hit the road this afternoon. We're making a
pit stop halfway this evening and staying with my parents in Franklin, TN and then on Friday it's off to the beach.
Of course
Talan has picked this week to screw up the great sleep schedule we had going. He's been up pretty much all morning starting at 2am for four days now. Last night was brutal. Kevin and I will have to take turns driving as not to fall asleep at the wheel.
Oooh, and the cherry on the cake of this drive? Guess where
Talan decided is his least favorite place to be? The
car seat. Hooray. I am really not looking forward to it. I can almost assure you that my extra large rear end will be squeezed into the extra small space between the two
car seats in the back seat of the truck trying to calm him for most, if not all, of the drive.
And hey, while I'm on a roll with all of the complaining....yesterday we had Lowe's come out to install the new dishwasher we had to buy. The old one had busted springs so the 100 pound door on it became a deadly weapon. After it nearly took off my leg we decided that it was probably best to replace it before it seriously hurt us or one of the kids. Anyway, yesterday was the day we were to get rid of it. The guys were on a roll with the
installation when I heard the "uh oh" from the next room. Turns out that the electrical wires behind the dishwasher were fried and just hanging there swinging back and forth. One of the wires was sizzled and had an inch of black from where it had burned. Hello? MAJOR fire hazard. We are so, so lucky that the door broke and the faulty wires were discovered. We could have lost our house rather than that old dishwasher. Now we have to call out an electrician to replace the wires (and check the rest of the house) before Lowe's can come back to give us our new dishwasher.
We all need a break. If I could have three wishes they would be: (1) that the kids behave and sleep, (2) that the weather cooperates...beach weather pretty please, (3) that Kevin is able to look away from the computer for long enough to relax and feel like he's on vacation. Fingers crossed. Thanks for reading.
You have angels watching over you. Thank goodness the wires were discovered. I got chills when I read this.
