Hamthrax

Poor Reese! We spent three of the last four days shuffling between our doctor's office and urgent care. We were so worried about her. Her fever was between 102 and 103 and wouldn't come down - not with lukewarm baths, not with meds, not with all of the TLC in the world. One of her friends who she rides the bus with and who is in the classroom next door to hers came down with the exact same symptoms she did and on the same day. He tested positive for H1N1. We're certain that she has it also but the stupid doctors around here won't test her. They did a swab on Wednesday but the test has a 40% rate of false negatives and I believe that it was too early to test. They clearly have the same thing because their symptoms are identical. Here she is at urgent care waiting to be seen. So sad!
This morning she woke up like it was Christmas morning. Her door flew open and she started screaming "I feel better!!!!". It brought a tear to my eye. Her temp has been 100 or below all day today and she is back to her perky, sassy self. The incubation period for H1N1 is 7 days so to be safe we are going to stick around the house until Wednesday. Four days to go before we know if any of the rest of us will come down with that nasty bug. So far, so good.
Kevin is on his way to the airport now to pick up his Dad. He's flying in to help us with our gigantic to-do list. We are so grateful to have him here but worried at the same time. I have hand sanitizers, Lysol sprays, bleach wipes, etc. all over the house so I'm praying we can keep him healthy. I feel sick just thinking about the germs that are hanging out all over this house. Off to sanitize something.....anything.....everything.

  1. I hope everyone is staying healthy! Rya had the flu, then Larry got it and then I got it. I was sanitizing EVERY day! I think I got sanitizing elbow. :) In the end, we were put on Tamiflu. If you or Kevin or Kevin's dad start showing signs, ask for it! It's a lifesaver. They don't give it to children though. Rya just had to wait it out. xxoo
