Christmas in Chi-town

Last year at this time I was Large Marge pregnant with Talan. We weren't able to check out downtown Chicago because (a) I was so tired I could practically sleep sitting up, (b) I couldn't last an hour in the car without at least 2 pee breaks, and (c) I was too big for my coat. I couldn't button that sucker for the last three months of pregnancy; December, January, and February. This year we weren't about to miss it. We got up early on Sunday morning and made the trip with some friends. My girlfriend, Carole, grew up here so she was a perfect tour guide. We started out at the Macy's windows. Afterwards we walked (in the freezing cold) to the Christkindlmarket. There were a ton of booths and lots of German food but we beelined it for the line to see Santa and ended up waiting just a few short minutes for a picture. It was so cold out that we decided to nix the leisurely walk through the market and instead opted for a warm, cozy restaurant where we grabbed lunch. We're already at the point where we have to order food for Talan. He won't do baby food if the rest of us are eating with him. He screams until you give him whatever it is you are eating. So we knew better and ordered him mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes = happy baby. It was a long day but we made time to stop for a tree on our way home. We put it up last night but had to wait for it to settle before we could decorate it. Tonight was the night! We all (sans Talan) had so much fun looking through our ornaments and putting them all on the tree.
