My parents rolled into town late on Tuesday night. They were very excited to be here for Reese's last soccer game. They got to witness her doing every but actually playing soccer. I stayed back with Talan but from what I hear it was pure comedy per usual.
We were so excited to share yesterday with my parents, my Mom in particular. The day marked her 60th year. Happy, happy birthday Mom! We had another exciting day in store. My parents and I met Reese for lunch. Kevin has had the opportunity to experience the lunchroom but this was my first time. It was awesome. The kids are just too cute for words. Because it's cold out and recess is right afterwards, they all eat in full snow gear (sans gloves and hats obvs)! Poor little dudes. I was in shock at how independent they were. They are such little people! Reese seems so young and immature at home but watching her go through the lunch line and do so much on her own made me sad and proud all at once. So awesome to bear witness.
My Mom was excited to pack her birthday lunch in one of Reese's lunchboxes.
I thought they put the beat down on unhealthy lunches but I was wrong. What did Reese have for lunch? Nachos. Not even, really. It was a pile of chips drenched with processed cheese. Where's the beef people? She wasn't a fan and barely touched them. I couldn't really blame her BUT I'm not one to let food go to waste. The proof is in the gut that I'm sporting pudding. Therefore, I couldn't let them go to waste and worked to polish those puppies off.....with the help of my Dad.
After lunch it was time for the annual Kindergarten Gingerbread Program. Oh...My...Gosh! So cute! The kids were just adorable! I will, however, admit that I was mortified when Reese made her grand entrance. Here she is:
Really? Honey child, you are a Branton, not an Urkle. Thank goodness I was in the front and was a successful mime artist. Using hand signals I was able to convince her to untuck the shirt and pull down the skirt.
She might be able to manage the lunch line but her post bathroom dressing skills can use some serious tuning up.
The show itself was adorbs. She did such a great job and it was too cute for words:
Here she is with her teacher, Ms. Sheley:
Afterwards we got to stay and build a gingerbread house with her.
Reese and I might have had more fun eating the supplies than we did actually building the house.
That night we ended my Mom's birthday celebration with a night out, just adults. I booked a sitter and the four of us went to see a movie. If you haven't seen The Blind Side yet, you should. It was so. dang. good. Yes, I said dang. It was that good. Happy birthday Mama. I love you so much! I hope when I'm your age I can still kick, and stretch, and kick :) xoxo
There is NO WAY your mom is 60. She looks younger and younger everytime I see a picture of her, no joke. why do i have a feeling Reese would rather be singing a miley cyrus song rather than a gingerbread man song?! She does look so grown up in a school setting, tears.
