What Just HapPENed?

As anxious as I am to say goodbye to the past and to start over with a new year, I'm also afraid. Very afraid. I see a whole lot of blood, bruises, and trips to the ER in my future. Talan is an accident waiting to happen. Our day started with a "bang" so to speak. I was on the phone with my Mom and Talan was, per usual, pulled up on the coffee table taking laps around it. He decided to let go and his Gumby legs gave out and he fell backwards, on his head, against the tile around the fireplace. Accident #1. Side note: Mom, he's fine. Sorry for the "holy crap I have to go!" hang-up and for not calling you back to let you know that he was okay. This afternoon Kevin and I were both in the kitchen prepping lunch when Talan went back to his usual spot, the dreaded coffee table. He was a little too quiet so Kevin walked around the corner to check on him and caught him with a ballpoint pen (my bad....left it there in he midst of finishing up my grocery list). The top was off and he was banging it against the couch. We caught him in enough time to save the couch but not in enough time to catch him just barely avoiding poking his eye out. We never would have known had it not been for the evidence said pen left behind: And there you have it, accident #2. I am this close [ ] to getting rid of my coffee table all together. Tonight he lost his grip as he was pulling himself up and hit his mouth on the edge of it. This time there was blood. Accident #3. That kid gives me serious anxiety attacks. He's not afraid of anything which is a terrible thing when you are as clumsy as he is. It's one thing after another. All day. Every day.

  1. welcome to a life with boys! funny story...the other day at chick-fil-a a family walked in (3 boys - and no, not mine)...the first looked like he just came from some holiday party where they painted his face and he had wiped it off, the second boy came in clean, but the third was completely covered with red and black marker from ear to ear and forehead to neck...of course i laughed and Colin laughed and then i reminded him that's why we don't play with markers!
