Wicked Hot

We survived a crazy hot week.  Growing up in Florida, you'd think I would be used to extraordinarily hot weather but the eleven years in Washington followed by the past three and a half in Illinois have definitely had an affect on me and my tolerance for the heat.

While Talan and I took refuge in the house all week, Reese was at camp.  She has been to two other camps put on by the same people and really enjoys it.  This year the theme was "Wicked Wizard of Oz" and combined music from both The Wizard of Oz and Wicked.  Two of her classmates enrolled in the same camp so on Wednesday night we thought it would be fun to torture Mom to have a sleepover.  Only one of our two guests made it until the next morning.  The other ended up opting to go back home at 9 the night before.  Thursday was "create your own fairytale character" day at camp.  The girls decided that they wanted to be rock-n-roll peace fairies.  I did the best I could with that one (the friend who didn't end up spending the night came back the next morning to get ready with us).

On Thursday afternoon my parents drove into town.  Despite the crazy heat Reese's softball team played in their last game of the season.  I wasn't glad while I was sitting in the field, sweat rolling down my back, but I'm happy now that they didn't call it off.  I'll really miss watching her play.

Nothing beats an ice cold popsicle on a hot day.

Guess what color Talan had?

This afternoon was Reese's camp performance.  They did such a great job!  It was really amazing to see how much they learned in one short week.

She's getting so much more comfortable in the spotlight.  Her stage fright was almost non-existent, even when she got up for her solo (it was just one line of the song but it was still a solo!).

I'm really proud of how well she did.  She's such a little star!
