ARM-ageddon

There is never a dull moment in this household.  Yesterday my mom was due to fly out to DC to be by Josh's side for a couple of days.  Today he is having some tests done so she wanted to be there with him.  An hour before it was time to leave for the airport, she went into the garage to load up Talan's backpack to take him to school, slipped on some oil, and fell.  I was witness to both of her feet flying into the air and seeing her fall down hard onto her shoulder.

Within 2-3 minutes my dad was loading her into the car to rush her to the ER.  On the way there he was pulled over a police officer who claimed that he "observed" him driving 90mph.  Mind you he had just turned onto the main highway (pulled over maybe .2 miles from where he turned) and was in his Prius....not a Lamborghini.  My mom was in the car writhing in pain and the cop had the nerve to say to my dad "don't think the hospital excuse will get you out of a ticket".  He took his license and informed my dad that he'd have to come to the station to pick it up later that day.

Meanwhile my mom is still in so much pain that she was close to passing out.  A couple of hours later, and about the time she should have been boarding the plane, we all were given the news; a broken shoulder.  Unfortunately there is nothing they can do for this type of break outside of pain medication and a sling.  Yesterday was a very rough day and according to the doctors and what we've read, it's going to be a long recovery.

To add a little insult to injury, the officer who pulled my dad over called him yesterday afternoon.  He wanted to see if my dad had been in to pick up his license.  Oh, and he wanted to let him know that he "should have arrested you, had your car towed, and sent your wife to the hospital in an ambulance".  Nice.  I've got some rather colorful words running through my head right now to describe what I think about that guy.

The kids woke up this morning to a surprise.  Just like Nana, Eric took a spill yesterday and hurt his arm.  Poor little guy ended up in a sling that looks a lot like hers!

Say a little prayer for us.  Really hoping that these last few weeks of the year are uneventful.  We've had just about all we can take.  Hoping for good news from both Josh's doctor and from the Orthopedic doctor my mom is seeing.
