Tradition, tradition, tradition. I can't do without carrying on traditions from year to year. The first "must"? Dress as wacky as you wish. We have a Rubbermaid full of random tackiness that everyone digs into before we get started with our decorations. Both kids went through several costume changes. Good times. Our tree sat overnight so it could settle in. We were all excited to take it from drab to fab.
Last years photo of the kids wrapped up in lights was too much fun to not do it again. I smell an annual tradition in the making!
No holiday is complete without a toast. Bubbles and more bubbles. Of the sparkling cider variety in the little hands.
Notice Kevin's green velvet pants. There are about 150 bells hanging from the 3/4 pants. Not annoying at all! /sarcasm
Talan really had fun with the ornaments. I tried so hard to let it go and leave his ornaments exactly where he put them but the OCD in me just couldn't take it. He'd turn his back and I'd move his ornaments. I know, I'm just plain mean. But the fact that I have to deal with all of the clutter (i.e. decorations) for a whole month will give me enough anxiety. Looking at a tree with 80% of the ornaments hanging from the bottom branches could have very well sent me to the loony bin.
He obviously didn't have a clue that I was doing it because I still got plenty of lovin' afterwards.
Reese put the snowflake up top last year so this year it was Talan's turn. This ended with Kevin climbing on a chair to do it himself. Poor kid can't catch a break!
After 3 hours of hard work, the house is now full of Christmas spirit.
Step 1 = done. Now to get the gifts for underneath that bare tree. Still so much to do! However, we were reminded this morning at church of the real reason for the season.....and it has nothing to do with a tree, decorations, or gifts. I've got to keep that message on repeat in my mind.
