Sleepovers Are Our Favorite!

Our goal was to have a weekend full of family fun while getting into the holiday spirit.  Reese had other plans when she came home from school on Friday.  She and her friend, Jada, were excited about the idea of a sleepover.  We are pretty tired of saying "no" so we let her go and decided to let our fun begin on Saturday.  While Reese was gone, Eric the Elf didn't rest:

We picked Reese up on Saturday morning and went Christmas tree shopping.  We've shopped for trees every which way but always seem to end up at the tree lot set up in the grocery store parking lot right across the street from our neighborhood.  So this year we decided to save time and went straight to the lot.  It was a beautiful day.  No coats in December in Chicago?  That's a serious rarity.

After picking out the tree we took the kids to see a holiday movie, Rise of the Guardians.  We brought Jada along so Reese was thrilled.

We were even able to fit in a haircut for Talan.  He's been asking for one for weeks.  His poor mohawk was too long to style but it's back.  Seriously?  This kid has mad swag.

After the movie we rushed out to catch the annual parade of lights in downtown Naperville.  It's a simple show but really gets you into the spirit.  It was so nice to leave the coats, scarves, gloves, and blankets behind this year.

Santa makes his appearance at the tail end of the parade.  He spotted Talan and pointed right at him.  He was so excited about that!

Such a great weekend.  We are hoping this warm weather sticks around for a while!
