....Preschooooooool's out for-eva! Unreal. Truly. I cannot believe that today was her last day of preschool. I also cannot believe how emotional I got. I just made fun of a couple of my mom friends two weeks ago for crying about Kindergarten. If the last day of preschool was this hard, I don't know how I am going to handle her first day of school in August. It's going to be an ugly cry for sure.
Our day started out really well. She was so, so excited. After breakfast we went outside to take pictures. Below are pictures of her first day of preschool this year next to her last day:
I stole my idea from last year for teacher gifts. The card says "Reese's reasons" and below it "I love (insert teacher's name here) because" and then I sat her down and had her tell me what she loves about each one. The answers were pretty cute. You can click on the pic and you should be able to read them. Inside the basket is a bunch of Reese's brand candies and a handwritten letter from both Reese & I. It's so hard when there are 3 teachers and you're on a tight budget! Have to get creative.
We were off to school. She was so excited for the big day. She wants so badly to be an official kindergartner and is also looking forward to all of the summer fun.
I was excited for her...until the drop-off. That's when I lost it (for the first time). Hysterics. I am glad I have big sunglasses because no one should have to witness the ugliness that was my breakdown.
I had enough time to calm down at home before it was back to the school for a picnic. The kids showed off some of what they learned before we headed outside.
(Reese is with one of her teachers, Ms. Gower)
Now the part I was dreading...back inside for the final goodbyes. As you can see she was still excited at this point. Her teachers (and me)...not so much:
One last time in her cubby
Goodbye Mrs. Hilt
Goodbye Mrs. Johnson
...and one last photo in front of the school
She is usually so emotional so I was shocked at how she handled her last day. My shock didn't last long. Once she was buckled in and we started to pull away the waterworks started. So sad!
I know....shame on me for taking photos but I like to capture every bit of emotion. She's doing much better now and we're going to have a great afternoon. And rather than end this on a sad note I'll post a video from this morning to lighten the mood. She came in the room with some sunglasses on and said "I look hot". Say WHAT? I had the camera because I was about to take the photos out front and pressed record to capture the rest on video. Apparently she thinks she's a "seenager". Enjoy....and thanks for reading.
Ok, I welled up reading this and looking at the pics, KINDERGARTEN IS a HUGE deal!! I can't believe it! Loved the idea of the same outfit for 1st and last day so you can really see how she's grown. The pic. of her in her car seat, she looks so huge. you have one "hot" daughter!
