Week End Update

It's been another busy week. I thought it was Tuesday on Thursday if that tells you anything. It flew. I'll start with a Talan update: This week it was back to the doctor. His spitting up has been progressively getting worse. I have mentioned it at every appointment only to be shot down and told that it is merely a "laundry issue" and nothing more. I have time and time again brought up reflux as a possibility but to no avail. After gaining some reassurance from my Mom that his issues are more than just a little bit of spit up every now and again I finally went in to see another doctor for a second opinion. Within two minutes she diagnosed it as being reflux. The way she explained it is that there are two types: the happy refluxer and the miserable refluxer. Talan is on the happy end. He is not bothered by the spitting up and doesn't seem to be in pain when he does it. He is, however, acting out in different ways - one being his sleep. The reflux is causing him some irritation in the way of heartburn and he's having trouble sitting still throughout the day and sleeping through the night. We started him on meds today and hope to see some improvement within a week. I am praying that this helps the poor kid out....and that it means a full night of sleep for the rest of us. It's been brutal. I'd love to unpack the bags that have been under my eyes for months. On to Reese. She has had a busy week. In addition to Safety Town she started her all girl camp, BAM Camp. On Tuesday and Thursday she was in camps from 10am to 4pm. When she wasn't at camp, she was out running the streets with the girls. There was quite a bit of little girl drama this week as well. They started a neighborhood band (new Reeseism alert - she was calling it "the vand"). Anyway, they sit one kid's front porch and each of the girls has an instrument and/or sings. Reese, being the youngest of the group, is still adjusting to hanging with the older girls. She's still whiny and sensitive and basically just acting her age. This week acting her age got her fired. Yep, you read it right, Reese was fired (straight up Donald Trump style!) from the girl "vand". She came home really upset. I knew she probably said or did something to get a reaction out of them so I convinced her to go back and apologize. She came home even more upset after apologizing because they told her it was too late and that they wouldn't accept......Oh no you di'int!!!!!!! This, my friends, did not sit well with Mama (or Nana). I went straight down to the basement, brought up the karaoke machine, plugged that sucker into the outlet on the porch, cranked that baby up. In went the coolest Kidz Bop CD we could find and Reese started belting out the tunes while my Mom, Talan & I made as big a commotion as we could. It took about 15 seconds for them to hop on their bikes to take turn doing ride by's to check her out. HA! Take THAT mean girls. This week she had a blast at Safety Town. Today was "graduation day". She learned all about water, fire, electrical, train, traffic, etc. safety. Cody was in class with her so guess who showed up for graduation day? Carson....Reese's crush. When she saw him she stopped in her tracks, she started swaying back and forth, put her finger in her hair and started twirling it, smiled, and said "Hiiiiii Carson". I kid you not. I am not the only one who witnessed it.
Kevin was able to snap a photo. When I was browsing through them she saw the picture above and said "Mom, do not delete that one. Carson looks super cute in it". Swear. Lord help me.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend. Thanks for reading.
