Talan's 4 Month Stats

I took Talan in for the 4 month check-up this afternoon. He weighed in at 13.7 (he was 11.9 in April) and was 24.25 inches (23.5 in April). He's still on the same curve falling in the 25% range. Everything checked out perfectly and he is exactly where he should be developmentally. I talked to his doc about the excessive vomiting so she ordered an ultrasound on his stomach. The ultrasound is to rule out pyloric stenosis which is when the lower part of the stomach is too narrow for food to pass through and enter into the small intestines. The problem with that theory is that he is gaining weight....and gaining it at a great pace. If food weren't making it to the small intestines I doubt he'd be where he is weight wise. Speaking of, now that he has more than doubled his birth weight the doctor said it's time to start crying it out at night. No more middle of the night feedings. I'm going to give it a shot tonight. Whether or not I am able to follow through is another story. She also gave me the green light to start him on rice cereal. Once he has that down it's time for the veggies. I'm really excited and hoping that a full stomach helps with the sleeping through the night bit. We'll see! All in all we've got a happy, healthy baby. I'm sure we'll have some stories and videos over the next couple of weeks. Until then, thanks for reading.

  1. poor thing...we had that problem when Preston was a baby. poor dude had an upper-GI when he was 4 months old! he ended up having a bad case of reflux and a little colic, but with a little medication he was just fine. so, don't worry, i'm sure T will be okay.
