This week has been so incredibly busy! We've had something (or several somethings) to do every day. I'm going to sleep really, really well tonight.
On Wednesday I took advantage of one last opportunity to volunteer in Reese's classroom. They've been learning a lot about currency recently so Ms. Sheley set up an ice cream store in the classroom. The kids could buy a scoop of ice cream and several toppings using quarters, nickles, dimes and pennies. It was such a clever idea and the kids had a blast!

They brought beach towels with the intention of using them to enjoy the ice cream outside but it rained a bit just as they were headed out so it was an indoor beach party.

Yesterday was the last full day of school.

The kids put together a little showcase for the parents to celebrate their accomplishments.

Ms. Sheley presented them each with an award.

She also put together a folder with paperwork from the beginning of the school year all the way through the end. It was amazing to see how far Reese has come.

This morning several of the kids in our neighborhood met at one house to have donuts together before catching the bus.

We love our bus driver, Ms. Pat. We'll all miss her over the summer but I think it's safe to say that Talan will miss her most of all. He got to watch the kids get on the bus one last time.

After school we took the kids out to lunch, played in the yard and in the sprinkler, and then it was off to a "school's out" party. My job was to make the cake. It turned out really cute!

The hosts rented a huge bouncy house. So much fun! How any of them had energy after such a long, fun-filled week is beyond me but they all rallied until almost 10 o'clock tonight.

Tomorrow is the official summer kick-off. And Reese is officially finished with her first year of elementary school. And I am officially shocked at how quickly time has flown.
I can't believe Reese will be a 1st grader next year, unbelievable. I hope her next teacher is as good as Ms. Sheeley. And who are you calling martha??? Look at that cake!!!I would have certainly ordered it from a bakery. How'd you make the sand??
ReplyDeleteYep, it is very hard to believe that Kinder is over. I have mixed feelings about it but am very glad for summer to be here!!
ReplyDeleteSeems like Reese had a great year with a great teacher. And she always looks so friggin cute!!
Your cake looks fab!
