We were home by noon at which point I rushed upstairs, changed back into my PJs, and lounged on the couch for the rest of the day. We ate a big lunch (so much for all of that hard work with diet and exercise all week....I totally sabotaged myself all weekend) so dinner was light. The best part of the meals this weekend was having them cooked for me. Have I mentioned how awesome my husband is?
While we're on the subject of awesome, I am lucky enough to have a Mom who doubles as a best friend. Without her, I would be lost. She's the strongest person I know and my inspiration. I can only hope that one day my kids see in me an ounce of what I see in her. Mom, I love you to God times infinity and back....and then some.
And happy Mother's Day to my mom-in-law, too. You've been a part of my life for half of it. I love that we grow our relationship with every year. Thank you for making me feel more like your daughter than your son's wife. I love you.
To my 3 grandmothers, I am not sure that there are words to express how grateful I am to have you all. I heard a saying once, "grandmothers are moms with lots of frosting". Couldn't have said it better.
While I'm shouting out to all the Mama's, I have a few more to thank:
HH, you are one of the most patient mothers I know. Truly. I don't know what I would do without you. Oh, and thank you for going and getting pregnant again....it would have sucked to go through those nine months of being huge and miserable alone!
EJE & HJC, through the toughest of times you put your children first and showed me what it meant to be completely selfless. You have two of the most well-rounded, polite, & generous kids I know.
TS, Helloooooooo Martha Stewart! Your world revolves around that adorable little girl of yours. You have sacrificed so much to give her a good life. I don't know how in the world you do all that you do (and do it so well!). You are truly amazing!
JHD & AKM, one word....Marathon! Inspiration is an understatement. 3 kids and you still find time to run 20 miles on any given Saturday. You are both such beautiful, fun, vivacious women.
MG & J-dub, thanks for letting me be real and for the non-sugar-coated versions of your stories. Motherhood isn't always peachy. Thank God I can call and tell you when I am 2 seconds from listing my kids on Craigslist without any worry of being judged.
(J)THS, I'm just impressed that you could carry 6+ pounds in that itty bitty belly of yours to begin with! Working full time and raising a child is double the work. You do it and you do it so well. You've perfected the balancing act! I know Mother's Day is always a hard day for you. What an awesome example she set for you. You've been in my every thought today.
If I left you out, it isn't because I don't love you. Trust me, every mother in my life has given me something and for that I am so grateful. I love you all!

ReplyDeleteWow, how thoughtful of you! You too are an inspiration to me. Isn't that what mom's do, put our kids first and foremost? It's hard at times, but that's what makes us good mothers. p.s. I won't judge if you post a wanted ad on craigslist, I'm drafting mine up as I write this.
