We love parades. There are several each year in downtown Naperville and we try to make it to every one. This morning we packed up the wagon and the kids and headed out for the annual Memorial Day Parade. It started out as a gorgeous day!
To be honest, we did consider bagging our plans before leaving this morning because Talan is still teething. Really? Is this phase ever going to end? In the end we figured that we could (a) listen to him whine at home or (b) let the rest of Naperville share in our pain and let him scream in public. Obvs we went with b! Who doesn't love a loud, cranky, whiny 1-year-old? Off we went and he was actually in good spirits.
I was so excited to see his reaction to all of the loud music and commotion. Too bad for me because the only loud we heard came from the sky above when the mother of all storms decided to descend upon us pretty much out of nowhere. One minute it was 85 degrees and sunny and the next the temp dropped, the wind kicked up, and it started raining buckets.
Talan put his hands in the air and started squealing with joy. He loved every second of it. Of course it probably was fun for him....I was running as fast as I could pulling both he and Reese in the wagon. Hearing his laughter made me lighten up and enjoy it. By the time we got to the car we were all laughing. Kevin tried to take a video but it was raining so hard that he was worried about the camera. This 5 second clip will give you an idea though. Just listen to it!
We were soaked and disappointed.
But, we came home and made the best of it. We bathed the kids to warm them up, we all changed into our PJs, and we camped out in the basement for the entire day. Good times!
