I'll start by saying last night was a much better night! Kevin had his
business trip today which required him to fly out and then drive to his site, 2 hours each way. He had to get a good night of sleep last night so we moved him into Reese's room, Reese into the spare with my Dad, and my Mom into our room with me. We ended up going to sleep around 10:30 or so and
Talan slept through until just after 1am. He ate and went back to sleep and then woke up a second time around 4:30. He has had some issues after feeding with stomach aches so he didn't want to go back to sleep after that second feeding. My Mom ended up taking him downstairs at 5:30 and let me sleep until 8. I'm feeling very well rested today but she is exhausted. I'm hoping that he has another good night tonight. If he sleeps as well as he's slept all day long we'll be okay. It usually doesn't work that way but a girl can hope.
Today I took
Talan in for his first doctor's appointment. When we left the hospital he was 6.1 and today he was already back up to his birth weight, 6.5. Very impressive! He's really doing great. They measured his length again and said that he was just over 19 inches. I think they did something wrong at the hospital. The nurse was guessing that they stretched him and measured to the end of his toes rather than his heel. Either way it'll always say 20.5 on his birth certificate. We don't have to go back for another visit (or dreaded rounded of shots) until he is one month old.
I've had a really good day. I've only taken my pain
meds once today and I'm still feeling great. I'm tired but I've been out of bed all day long so I guess it's to be expected. The incision is healing really well. Right now it's the
engorgement that is bothering me the most. It felt great to get up and out of the house this morning to go in to the doctor. I also got to surprise Reese at school. We all loaded up and drove to pick her up. She was very excited to see her brother in the car. She has done so well with everything. I expected so many more questions but she really hasn't had many. I ask her every time I change his diaper or feed him if she wants to ask me anything but it's rare that she does. She did have some questions for my Mom this morning....."Nana, why do you have boobies but you don't have a baby?" followed up by "Is there milk inside of them". I'm really proud of her and how well she's adjusted. Who is the best big sister in the world???? This girl:

I'll take and post more pictures of little man this week. I'm slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things.
Reese looks so cute! So glad to hear you are all doing so well.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed reading your blog. It is like taking a trip down memory lane. I LOVE Reese's questions!! Sleep well Stac.
ReplyDeleteThe engorgment is what I remember most. Ick. It's only temporary though. :) Reese's shirt is AWESOME! I was looking all over for a shirt like that for her, but just couldn't put my hands on one. I'm glad you found one. Glad to hear you are doing so well!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that all is well. I too remember the engorgment, which I fittingly called "Rock Boobs." Mikhala is 7, I wish these darn things would go down already. Love you.
