I cannot believe it. Tonight was the second night in a row that I've had Talan asleep, in his crib, at 7pm. I read my journal from when Reese was an infant and it totally lit a fire under me. She was sleeping for 12 hour stretches, 7pm to 7am, from the time she was 12 weeks old. Talan is 14 weeks today and is nowhere near that! Last night I just did my best to keep him up and when he started to nod off I bathed him and then kept him up long enough to get 3 ounces in him before putting him down. He woke up somewhere around 2am but I only went in long enough to put a pacifier in. An hour later he was up again and this time the pacifier was not what he was after. So I fed him and put him down again and he slept until 5:30. He woke Reese up so both kids were ready to rock bright and early. Joy.
Tonight I was able to get him down at 7 using the same routine I did last night. The kicker? Reese has been in bed by 7:30. She's usually a night owl. She is in bed at a decent time but normally won't fall asleep right away. We've finally cut out her nap completely and I have just been trying my best to wear her out. She came in from one last bike ride (all the way around the block on two wheels!) and is finishing up her bath now. She will crash hard again tonight. I hope this can become the norm around here. Now I just need to get into the habit of turning in earlier so that I can get some good rest at night. It's so hard! I just want to hang out without having to take care of someone for a little while at the end of the day. Sleeping seems like such a waste.....until the middle of the night wake up calls.
One last thing. Reese got her recital costume at ballet on Tuesday. She is NOT a fan. Not...at...all. Here she is right after I put it on her.

She kept saying that it didn't look like a pretty ballet outfit and the skirt was "ridiculous". She doesn't like the puff and wants it to be straight down. Quite frankly, I am shocked! Usually the more over the top it is the better with that little girl. This time? Not so much.

Not a happy ballerina
Too funny!!!! Hope she can get over it in time for the recital! Thanks for reading.
Awwwww, poor Reese! She looks adorbs in it tho so hopefully she will get used to it!
ReplyDeleteAs for the bedtimes, good for you! We go to bed at 730 around here (well, the boys, Eden is sacked by 630) and I love it. It is sooo nice to have the whole night to yourself! Glad you are getting there....woohoo!
oh my gosh, the progression in the pictures is TOO funny!!! girlfriend knows what she likes!!!
ReplyDeleteAw, I think she looks adorable, poofy dress & pouty face. When's the recital? Is she getting more used to the dress?
