Once I got through that fiasco my day got much better. The weather is picture perfect. Truly. Reese has been so anxious to use the pool we got her for her birthday so while Kevin was off at a site visit I drug the box out back and got to work setting it up. Our backyard is not fenced in. In addition to the neighbors to the left and right we also back up to row of homes so at least 12 families can see what's happening in our yard. It doesn't bother me but there is no way in H-E-double hockey sticks I am going to prance around out there in a swimsuit. Hello thunder thighs, spare tire, and ba-dunk-a-dunk. No thank you very much. Being the brilliant woman I am, I blew that sucker up on the back deck where the view is blocked by bushes. It looks ridiculous but it works! The water was freezing so when Kevin got home he brought out several pots of boiling water to heat it up for us. All four of us, Talan included, sat out there and had such a fun afternoon in the sun.
That evening I knew I wanted to grill out because it was just that kind of day. I admit to having a huge obsession with kisforkitchen and rely on it for recipes and ideas. I found the perfect recipes for my mood and headed out to Caputo's ("Caputo's Caputo's, it's my favorite store") to pick up some homemade bratwurst. We made Jessica's Grilled Coleslaw recipe and served it on top of the brats with the Warm Potato Salad w/ Arugula. It...was...delicious! So, so, so good. And it was good again today for lunch. After dinner my girlfriend, Jennifer, came and picked me up and treated me to a martini. I was home by 9 and Kevin and I ended the night watching Kris Allen win Idol. GO KRIS! I had a lovely day.
I am getting my birthday present from Kevin today, a day late. He's going in at 2:30 today for the old sniparooski...the snippity snip...the chop chop. In other words, after today we can rest easy knowing that these crazy sleepless nights will be behind us for good once Talan is through this phase. No more babies. Although, knowing our luck we'll be that couple who defies the odds and ends up in that less than 1% group who proves it uneffective. We still need to go and buy some frozen peas. I'm fairly certain I'll have to call the whaaaaaaaaaambulance at some point this afternoon. Kevin has been known to milk it. I keep reminding him that they don't have to slice open his stomach and put his organs on his chest to do the procedure like they did when I gave birth....twice. I'm kidding. Kinda :) I'm sure he'll do great.
This is a novel so I'll post our day in pictures in next. Thanks for reading!
Just don't post a pic. of Kevin's "procedure!" LOL! I told Sulev this a.m. that maybe he could ask Kevin for some pointers and he had a blank stare. I hope Kevin can downplay it when they talk next. Sounds like you had an AWESOME birthday, picture perfect indeed!
