Talan had his 9 month appointment yesterday. He weighed in at 16.5 and was 28.25 inches. I was in shock. He gained less than 1 pound in three months and grew 3 inches! He is now in the 50% for height and fell off of the charts where his weight is concerned (in other words, he is somewhere around -2%). Because we went through so much with Reese and her size, I wasn't shocked. His doctor is not at all concerned and said that kids often plateau around this age and that he probably won't pick back up until sometime between 12 and 18 months. Personally, I am still just mad impressed by the 16 pounds he already has on his frame. And really? I am mad shocked that he isn't gaining because the kid likes to eat!!!! Reese was 17 pounds at her 3-year check up. I know it sounds crazy but she has always just been a little peanut. When we took her last month she was still only 31 pounds....just a few months short of her 6th birthday! She eats but only because she has to. Not because she is a lover of food (like her Mama). Talan, however, has Boudreaux running through his blood and can smell jambalaya (and carpet fibers judging by what he has ingested lately) from a mile away.
Talan is changing at a rapid pace. It's crazy to me that within a two week span he started sitting up (without falling backwards) on his own, and then crawling, and then pulling up to stand. He went from being a lump to a pain in the rump in a matter of days. He's such a boy! I surround him with toys but he's more interested in whatever wires and electronics he can find than any lame light up contraption I put in front of him.
Here he is in the midst of bliss:
And just because I am so happy to have given birth to a "foodie", I will post a few more proud photos:
We got the "official" OK for table food so he had some turkey and avocado.....
1/2 an avocado, 2 slices of turkey, and 1/3 piece of bread later? Not happy at all that it was gone:
