Flashback to my last post when Reese & Talan both had a fever. Well, I couldn't get the fever to break and started getting a little concerned. Reese was up over 103 and Talan was at 101. No other symptoms so it was just a fever at that point but I was worried that there was something else going on, maybe an ear infection or who knows what. Anyway, I called the nurse and they told me to come in right away. Kevin was out of town (go figure! Something always happens on the random days when he is gone) but fortunately Jeff was still here and was able to help me out. I only had an hour notice and had to feed them both, dress them, dress myself, and Jeff had to pack up and get ready to fly out.
We rushed to the doc only to have him tell me that both kids were fine and just have a weird virus that will cause them to have a fever for about 5 days. He looked in their ears, nose, and throat and then gave them each a dose of Motrin. That Motrin is going to end up costing me a few hundred dollars. The bright side (because there is always a bright side, right?) is that it's only January and I'm sure we're close to meeting our deductible at this point which means we can go to the doctor for any and everything for the rest of the year. And we will. Trust.

It's been a very trying week. As if having sick kids wasn't bad enough, Kevin got some disturbing news on the job front. His boss in Dallas was fired. What does this mean for Kevin? We still aren't sure. As of now they are saying it will be business as usual. They told him that they are aiming to hire someone to cover the Chicago office within 60 days which would be very good for him. He needs a mentor; someone who can be his go-to person and someone who will keep his best interests in mind. We're just trying to keep the faith and stay calm. My stomach was in knots all day yesterday as I tried to work through it all in my head. I am hoping for the best but if something happens, our worst case scenario isn't the end of the world. We've got each other and we'll figure it all out.
