We had a fantastic time saying goodbye to '09 and ringing in 2010. After our afternoon of skating we cooked up some appetizers and went over to a neighbor's house to hang with friends. They set up a pack-n-play for us so we put Talan down just after 7. Reese had a blast with her friends while the adults played games and enjoyed the evening. We did our countdown with the east coast at 11pm just before heading home:
We got home, put the kids to bed, and I ended up crashing just before midnight. Kevin rallied and welcomed the new year for the both of us. Today we had a fantastic day. It's 7:45pm and I'm still in my PJs. Loves! We spent all afternoon cooking and it was VERY well worth it:
We made our traditional family recipes; black-eyed-peas and cabbage rolls and also decided to make my Grandpa Boudreaux's hot tamales. I am very proud to say that it all turned out perfect! I'm especially proud of the tamales. Growing up in New Orleans, my dad's family used to buy hot tamales from a cart downtown. My Grandpa perfected his recipe to taste almost exactly like them. Tonight, each bite brought be right back to being at their house, always with a lot of family around, hanging out by the canal, fishing, swimming, and feeling so much love.
Happy New Year! Here's to hoping for health & wealth (I ate extra greens tonight in hopes....and also just because they were delish!!!) and positive changes in 2010.
