Happy Easter a day late. We had another eventful day yesterday. Reese woke up and found bunny footprints leading from her bedroom into ours where the Easter Bunny left her an empty basket and a note to let her know that he had eggs hidden downstairs for her. I was up, fortunately, and got to see her reaction to the footprints. She was SO excited! We went down and she loved hunting for all of the eggs. She described every egg that she picked up which is exactly what she has done every year on Easter morning. "I found a purple", "Oooo, a blue one", "a pink one", etc. Well, apparently I need to do a better job at covering all of the colors because when she got to the peach egg she said "and here's one that is the color of our bodies". It was so funny! Fortunately Kevin captured it all on video so we were able to watch it and laugh all over again. The Easter Bunny put money in the eggs this year instead of candy. He really does know everything....Reese isn't a huge fan of candy so he did a good job of replacing it.
After finding all of the eggs she dug into her basket and found a movie, High School Musical panties, headbands, nail polish, and a few more goodies. I made her a special bunny pancake and then it was off to church. People come out of the woodwork on holidays! Mass was packed! We were smart and got there early so we were able to sit down and even found enough seats to sit next to the Heller's. Things started going downhill about halfway through. I had to get up and go outside with Reese. Not good. She was very tired and not on her best behavior at that point and we still had a picnic planned that we had to get through. After church we headed to a park in downtown Naperville with Eric, Heather, Olivia, & Sophia. The sun was shining but it was pretty chilly. We braved it anyway. Reese really started to fall apart at that point. We headed home and she rushed upstairs and was in bed and asleep within 5 minutes. I followed suit and napped as well. The next thing I knew Kevin was waking me up.....at 7PM!....to feed Talan. I couldn't believe how long I slept. 4 hours. It felt great though and I'm glad I got the rest being that I was up late to sign Reese up for Safety Town.
I have been so frustrated by her behavior lately. She's really testing us and pushing buttons. She has always been fairly hard-headed but it has gotten much harder to deal with these past few weeks. I know that it's partially because there has been so much change in our lives with Talan's birth. I also have less patience because of all of the change. And to top it off, she is just at a point where testing us is a normal thing. I get "what-to-expect" updates from babycenter.com monthly and the one I just got on Saturday described what's been happening with her perfectly. Hopefully this phase passes quickly.
Today I have Talan's 2-month check-up. I am dreading the shots. Maybe I can convince Reese to hold his hand through it all so that he won't have to look into my eyes when they poke him. He has really started "talking" to us this past week. It is soooooooooo cute! Here's a little clip from the other night:
I'm sure I'll have another update later when we get his official 2-month stats. Until then.....
oh, a pink one. awesommmmmmme.
