Take That Barbie!

This morning I woke up feeling like a new woman. Talan has been on such a great sleeping streak. Last night he was super fussy but when I finally got him so sleep at 11 he didn't make a peep until 6:30 this morning. I slept so hard! When he did wake up he was only up long enough to eat and then went back to sleep until 10:30.....and so did I! It was so refreshing. I made good use of that burst of energy. Kevin and I finished all but the cutting in of the ceiling in the living room. The room is still a wreck so I can only give you a little sneak peek of the color: I LOVE it! It looks so much brighter in the room. I'm so pleased with the way it turned out. It's amazing what a new coat of paint will do for a room. It was definitely harder to get the job done with a baby in the mix. If we could just both grab a brush and get to it we would have knocked it out really quickly. Instead we had to tag team it, passing off Talan as we took turns. As if painting wasn't a big enough job, we also cooked 4 meals. Heather is 5 days from her due date and beyond ready to meet baby Julia. So we made the famous Scallini's Eggplant Parmesan which is known to bring on labor. One for us, one for the Hellers. Come on Julia! I'll have my cell phone on my nightstand waiting for the call tonight. I also made a Polenta Crusted Turkey & Zucchini Casserole. I was making one for us anyway so I went ahead and made two of those also - one to bring to the Hellers. I know how it is in the last few weeks of pregnancy. You want to eat but you don't want to cook. Just thinking about what to cook is enough to drive you insane. Hopefully this helps. And hopefully Heather doesn't even have the opportunity to try the casserole because I'm hoping the eggplant will do the trick and she'll be off to the hospital tonight! All of the hard work wore Reese out too. This is how we found her, asleep on the couch. I don't know how that could be comfortable but I guess it was because she was passed out cold. She has been really pleasant all weekend. You know, not having the toys has given us a lot of quality time as a family. Even when we were cooking or painting, at least we were all doing it together. We're always together....but she'd much rather hang with Barbie than us. With her hot pink sparkly outfits, lipstick & "eye polish", and beautiful locks of long hair, we don't stand a chance! While I enjoyed my time with Reese these past few days, I know she missed her Barbies so I hope I won't have to send them on another vacay any time soon. I wonder if they enjoyed the accommodations; a Rubbermaid in the closet underneath the stairs. HA! Barbie best not mess with Mama! Thanks for reading.

  2. Good job on the painting, Stacie! Looks great! I'm glad the toy takeaway did the trick. That meltdown fit does NOT sound like fun. I'm not looking forward to that one bit. I'm glad you got some long stretches of sleep!! Love the new stroller too. Congrats :)
