Hooked on Phonics

Two things: First is that the alarm clock worked! Unfortunately I still had an early wake up call. At 6am she called me into her room because her pillow fell off of the bed. Her alarm hadn't gone off so she didn't think she could get out of bed to get it. Had to clear that one up. Anyway, she said that she fell back to sleep and that when the alarm did go off that it woke her up. Hooray! Hopefully this trend continues. Second thing is that in all of my complaining yesterday I forgot to brag. Shame on me. Reese came home and told me about her day and this was part of her story. Yesterday was "yellow" day (hence the yellow shirt). They learned about all things yellow. Her teacher, Ms. Sheley, wrote something on the blackboard and asked the class "can anyone help me to read this sentence?". Reese said that she looked at it and saw the letters D and O and knew that it spelled "do" so she put her hand in the air intending to help her out with that word. When Ms. Sheley called on her she said that she realized that she could read the whole thing and did. It said "Do you like to eat bananas?". When she read the sentence she said Ms. Sheley was so proud and impressed that she told her to "KISS YOUR BRAIN, REESE!" She had to kiss her hand and then transfer that kiss to her forehead. So cute! I'm so proud of her :)
