....childproofing, that is. On Saturday afternoon I was home with
Talan. Kevin and Reese were off at a birthday party. I fit in a shower while he was napping but he woke up before I could dry my hair. No biggie. As long as I am in his sight he is fairly content so I just laid out a blanket just outside of my bathroom door for him to roll around on.
I started drying my hair and zoned out. I was thinking to myself "I guess I should really start childproofing the house soon. When
Talan starts crawling my days of laying out a blanket for him and feeling like he's safe enough for me to get ready will be over. He will be into everything. Oh my gosh, the thought of what he'd do if he found an electrical outlet. He grabs at everything! I had better go and get outlet covers as soon as possible. He is going to....". Just about then I snapped out of my daydream and realized that
Talan wasn't in view anymore. What the ?!?!? I rushed around the corner and there he was. He had rolled and scooted his way towards the wall and I joke you not, the kid had his finger about half an inch away from the electrical outlet. Just reaching for the thing (and it was right at his level)! I could not believe it. What are the chances?
I have a feeling that I'm in for it. Reese was one of those babies that you could say "don't touch that" and she wouldn't. "Don't climb on that" and she wouldn't. "No opening that" and she wouldn't. We never even bothered with child locks on the cabinets or covers on the outlets. Granted I was at home with her and she barely left my sight but still. Never a fear. This time around? You can bet your behind that I will be (pop) locking (drop it) everything!!! With two sets of stairs in the house we're going to be inconvenienced something fierce until little dude can get up and down safely. We'll have four gates to get through. It's going to be a different world....and I just got a little taste of what's to come.
and welcome to the life of "BOYS"!!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I second that. Good luck sistah. Mine's starting to figure out how to take the door handle child proof thingies apart in order to get what he wants...not sure what we'll do then.
